Notícia em que o Secretário Regional da Habitação e Obras Públicas, Américo Natalino Pereira de Viveiros, considerou que a elaboração do Plano Regional de Ordenamento do Território dos Açores (PROTA), marca uma fase de «corresponsabilização da sociedade perante o necessário e desejável desenvolvimento» das ilhas. Considerou, por outro lado, que o PROTA será um instrumento que garantirá a defesa dos recursos da região e a sua utilização racional e permitirá aos agentes económicos tomarem as suas opções no momento certo.
